Okay guys, so when it comes to horror movies I have quite the love hate relationship. I mean I love myself a great scary movie. Last year when I saw the "The Conjuring," I hadn't been captivated like that by a horror flick in a long time. It was awesome! But because the nature of the horror genre, that being they're very cheap to make and that people flock to see them regardless of their quality; for every Conjuring we get we also get ten or so garbage movies making it incredibly hard to trust this genre.
Keep that in mind as I relay this bit of movie news to you. In an interview with Crave Online Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes and one of the producers for the new Friday the 13th said that Jason might not even be in the movie. So in addition to the rumor that the 13th installment of the franchise will be a found footage movie (which I can live with, a found footage movie might be kind of cool) there might be no Jason? If they actually do it, that would be a pretty bold maneuver by Platinum Dunes to remove the iconic star of Friday the 13th from Friday the 13th. And yes I do know that Jason wasn't even in the original film, or that in part 5 there was an impostor Jason. But I also remember when the Halloween franchise tried to swap Michael Myers out of part three for some witches and we all saw how that turned out.
In all likelihood this rumor is nonsense. Jason is worth too much money to the studio to just sit a movie out. Jason's hockey mask on the poster alone sells the film.
