Is Johnny Depp Marvel's Doctor Strange?

Marvel is really on a role. Two big casting decisions in two days? That's crazy. Okay I'm getting a bit ahead of myself because this story isn't confirmed of yet, but it seems that in addition to Micheal Douglas being cast as Henry "Hank" Pym (yesterday) Marvel is also in talks with Johnny Depp to play Doctor Strange in the superheroes upcoming cinematic debut. If you don't know who Doctor Strange is here's a quick rundown. Doctor Stephen Strange is a wealthy and talented neurosurgeon who loses his gift after being disabled in a car accident. Obsessive and unable to move on with life he travels the world looking for a way to fix his disability. He stumbles across a man who teaches him the mystic arts and becomes the Sorcerer Supreme and protector of earth from magical threats.

Now I don't usually report rumors but It's Johnny Depp, how can you not talk about this? Depp is one of the most polarizing actorss today. Most people love him but at the same time his constant need to do weird over the top roles like Willy Wonka and the Mad Hatter have annoyed many a fan who wish the star would take on a few more normal and down to earth roles. But honestly I could see this rumor proving to be true. Johnny Depp is a very talented actor when he's not taking acid with Tim Burton before a scene and Marvel has shown that they're committed to casting serious actors in their films like Michael Douglas, Anthony Hopkins, and Tommy Lee Jones, just to name a few. In addition to that Depp and Disney (who owns Marvel) have a relationship together as he helped build one of their top franchises of recent memory "Pirates of the Caribbean" where he starred as Captain Jack Sparrow. Not to mention that Depp just simply looks like a Doctor Strange so I'd actually be on board for Depp to be cast in this role.

But what do you guys think? Would you like to see Johnny Depp as a superhero? And if you liked this article and want to read more subscribe to my blog by clicking the subscribe button in the side bar on the right.
