Michael Douglas is Henry Pym in Marvel's Ant-Man!

So here's a cool bit of of news coming out of Hollywood. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has just announced that Michael Douglas will portray Henry Pym in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie "Ant-Man." For those of you who don't follow comics Henry Pym was the original Ant-Man and the inventor of the Ant-Man tech, a technology that makes the wearer able to change his size from small to big or big to small.

There wasn't a lot known about the direction the film would take until this news. About a month back fans learned that Paul Rudd was confirmed to be Ant-Man for the film but it was never specified which one he would be. This led people to speculate if Rudd was actually cast to play the second Ant-Man Scott Lang. Lang is a former thief who steals the Ant-Man suit from Pym in a desperate move to save the life of his sick daughter. After saving her he reforms and Pym tells him to keep the suit making him the new Ant-Man.

Michael Douglas is a very talented actor and this casting shows that Marvel is taking the movie seriously. The addition of a name like Douglas really gives the project a boost of legitimacy in the eyes of the fans. It's also cool as a fan to see that even though Marvel has chosen to tell Scott Lang's story instead of Henry Pym's that they still plan to make Pym an integral part of the story and show the character the respect he deserves.
